Posey Well Poised for Re-election Turns in Over 8,000 Signed Petitions

Mar 29, 2010

Rockledge, FL -  Congressman Bill Posey collected over 8,000 signed petitions
from constituents across the four counties he represents: Brevard, Polk,
Indian River and Osceola.

Posey only needed 4,892 petitions signed to get on the ballot for
re-election, but with sweeping support from District 15, was able to
collect above and beyond the required number.

“It is humbling to know that people support the work I am doing in
Washington on their behalf and that they took the time to sign a petition,
allowing me the opportunity to continue representing them” said Posey.
“The response has been amazing.  There are more coming in the mail every
day!”

Posey continued “I am so grateful to all of the volunteers and supporters
who knocked on doors, attended events and spoke to family and friends to
help collect these petitions. It is a large effort and I am grateful for
their support.”

Members of Congress serve 2-year terms. Since first elected in 2008,
Congressman Posey will be up for re-election this November.  Candidates
for Federal office must either pay a fee of $10,440 or collect petitions
equal to 1% of their district’s registered population by March 29th.  The
Supervisors of Election in each county will verify the petitions over the
next few weeks. Further qualifying papers are required to be filed in
April, with the qualifying period ending on April 30th
